Eavesdropping Mommy
Dear Matt,
Remember yesterday morning when Rachel was having a difficult time obeying? She didn't get her way and she expressed that through whining and that body flail thing she does. She stomp-wiggled down the hall with every part of her body proclaiming her defiance.
You followed her and spoke to her in that patient, gentle voice that I love about you. She kept resisting and saying, "I'm gonna stop whining now! I'm gonna stop! I'm gonna stop, stop, stop!" while whining the entire time she said it.
After a while, things quieted down. I walked down the hall and pressed my ear against the door to listen in. Yes, I have to confess that I was eavesdropping. And those moments of listening in were so sweet as I heard what you said to her.
Thank you for shepherding her heart and not just changing her behavior. Thank you for pointing her to Christ and using Scripture. Thank you for being an example of patience and grace though it was undeserved... and for reminding me of the patience and grace God extends to me each day.
Galatians 6:9
I love you,
Catherine
